All About Therapy

Therapy is a process of growth and self-discovery.   In our sessions, I work to promote behavioral change by using strength-based approaches and working toward a positive self-concept.  Whether you are feeling down, uncertainty or anxiety, I will work alongside you and am here to support you in this process.

Home: About Therapy

Making the decision to work with a therapist can often be difficult. I offer a free 15-minute phone consultation to help you with this process.  My services incorporate cognitive-behavioral therapy, mindfulness and other evidence-based therapies for pediatric and adult populations.

Pediatric Therapy Services

Therapy sessions are offered to elementary through middle school-age students, who may be struggling with focus, anxiety, depression or ADHD.   I work one-on-one with students to develop the strong therapeutic relationship necessary to practice skills and target their concerns.  Emotional regulation and executive functioning/organizational skills are common areas that I work on with the pediatric population. A multidisciplinary approach is often beneficial, which includes collaborating with other professionals, such as teachers and medical providers to provide consistent care.

Behavioral Consultation and Parent Training

For some families, supportive parent training can be a beneficial, key component either in conjunction with their child's individual therapy or alone.  These sessions include behavioral consultation to create an individualized plan with suggestions on how to put this plan into practice at home.  The necessary education is provided to help you with this process while making specific modifications as needed.

High School to College age Students and Young Adults

High School and College students are presented with many new challenges, both in their academic and social environment. I work with these students to help them navigate this transition and build a plan to help them succeed in their individual goals. Therapies rooted in Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy (SFBT) Therapy, Strength-Based Therapy, Mindfulness, and Multicultural Therapies are utilized to target anxiety, depression, concentration and other areas of concern.

Eliana Fisher, NCC, LMHC, LPC

I work hard to build a positive and trusting relationship, which is something that I value and incorporate into my practice.  In the initial assessment, we will work together to identify individual areas of concern and answer questions as we work together to develop goals for therapy to provide a framework for our future sessions.

Experience: I have worked in medical, research, education and home settings and recently have incorporated telehealth as part of my practice.  Just prior to working in private practice, I spent 5 years working in a medical center, as part of a multidisciplinary team, where I collaborated with primary care providers, pediatricians, OB/GYN, and other medical providers to address behavioral health concerns for their patients. Throughout my training, I have worked with a variety of age ranges but have specialization in the pediatric and young adult populations.  I have extensive experience and training working with minority populations and those who are underserved.  I have spent many years supporting families in their homes and providing individualized behavioral therapy for their children.

Education: I have a master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from Roosevelt University in Chicago, IL, with a specialty in Child and Family Psychology. I completed my internship at C4 (Community Counseling Centers of Chicago) where I provided screening, assessment and other services in their child, adolescent and young adult department.  After graduate school, I trained and worked at The University of Chicago’s Clinical Neuroscience and Psychopharmacology Research Unit (CNPRU) in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Neuroscience, where I administrated psychological diagnostic evaluations to participants involved in clinical research trials.  There, I assisted in the creation of a scale to assess aggression in adults, a training video, and in-person trainings to educate research staff on how to administer the scale.  Much of the work I was involved in at Univiersity of Chicago was published in various psychiatry journals, such as the journal Psychiatry Research: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/28012305/

I am licensed as a mental health counselor to practice psychotherapy in the states of Pennsylvania, Georgia and Washington.
